Reflections- 13- Memory and criminal justice.

In sixth form i studied psychology and one of the topics we coved was memory.
In this we covered several topics such as
- how memory is stored
- the types of memory
- how memory can be tested
- how memory can be used
- how memory is used in crime scene investigations

How memory is used in crime investigations is the topic that interested me the most.
In this section we covered topics like
- how memory can be trigered
- how small details can trigger bigger pictures
- how memorys can be altered and changed over time or be false memories
- about eye witness testimonies
- criminal line ups

These would make interesting documentary topics, imperticulary
- criminal line ups
- eye witness testimonies

With criminal line ups we covered how peoples memorys can be easily influenced to pick the wrong person or re seeing the criminal can cause stress.  We could create a documentary about criminals how have been wrongly accuses purely because of the memory of the witness.

with eye witness testimonies we could explore the topic of long and short and how police get a statement from them straight away to get all the details before they forget, then question them later and use small details to help trigger the memories. We could re create the memories and events that happened.
