PTK Studio Shoot - Initial idea

I am in group b for this project with

After having a vote on wither to do a campaign video  or  an advert the group was evenly split between the two, we then bounced around some ideas for each but none of us had a really strong case we wanted to campaign for so we decided to go with making a campaign style video to promote digital film and screen arts.

The main points we wanted to showcase in the course promotional video are :

• Show the courses strong points Eg, wont dont just do film we learn photography, after effects, interactivity etc 
• Different from college/ 6 form which are very structured, no creative, text book style of learning, we also have the theory and academic side but were also very hands on and practical 
• have a very strong creative aspect 
• show off our personalities, as were such a small course we are all quite good friends which allows us to develop a more wacky and out there ideas 
• make it fun and unique, a show real is great it shows are work well, its profesional and nice, how ever its very common so people tend to just filck through them. 

After a while we came up with the idea of having a person trapped inside a padded cell in a straight jacket where they are going insane because they are not aloud to be creative and free. The lack of creativity breaks them and makes them strong enough to snap out of the jacket. They begin tearing away at the walls trying to break out, after pealing away at the walls they see a glimps of a world out side of there restricted cells, which is bright and colour full and amazing, this world showcases of dfsa it has glipses of previous work as well as references to the things we learn  such as after effects etc 

after all agreeing on this as our final idea as its fun and unique , we went to the su to discus what we need to do next, which is were we decided we need to polish of the ending a bit more. We originally wanted to have the character tear his way out of the padded cell into a green screen world, how ever charlie brought up the point that no of use really know how to light and edit a green screen correctly so it doesnt look tacky and bad.  We also need to work out what we want in this out of prison world as we cant make it to obscure and crazy and no of us are very strong at affter effects /  3d modeling and might also too look to abstract and be off putting. so we decided to go away and do a bit of research and brain storming individually to create a solid final ending. 

The things we are clear on though are

• the student is pushed into a prison cell where you hear to prison guards shouting at them explaining why they are being put in there 
• the walls will be covered in pages of text books, as these are easier to put up and tear down then creating a padded cell and represents the boring confinement of none creative education. 
• there will be a voice over, several phrases repaeated over and over , to represtend the students thoughts and show how they are going crazy in there 
• it will start off very low saturated, minimal colours and dull which turns bright and beautiful when they escape the prison

what to do next

I will continue to research and thing of a way to create the ending.
I will make a mood board of how i visualise the video looking and endings.

we will then re group together to discuss our endings  and research before coming up with one solid idea.

after that we will need to discus

• writing the synopsis and sending it to rosie
• The sound / the script 
• the production design, filming/ editing styles
• who will be doing what job roll ( see list of job rolls below ) 
• if we end up using green screen, research into how to use it correctly
• who and how will create the ending 
• create a schedule as all though we have quite a lot of time we have alot of other projects on the go as well
• the budget for props
