When creating a budget the best way is to create an initial plan that factors in every posible budget range to the highest posible price, even if you know you are getting free costumes still factor them into the budget this way you have something to fall back on if the original dosent go to plan. When making a film it is always better to have to much money left over than run out after day one.

The best way to format a budget is using budgeting software as it is faster and more efficient. Budgets should be broken down into categories, making them easier to plan and organise.

create a budget breakdown, this is when you take the script break down and elaborate on it with a price.  This way you can easily work out the budgets for each category with out getting muddled up. The factor in things like legal and post production to create your over all budget

a page 1 of a budget plan should have a top sheet, a middle and a bottom

the top sheet contains all the vital information like name of film, shoot date, contact details.
the middle contains subtotals for each section of the budget
the bottom contains  assumptions of what the budget is baised on
