Dance - Costume and make up

For this piece we want the dancer to look semi casual as in the couple have killed them self during an everyday life activity so wouldn't be dressed up to smartly.  How ever as i have been inspire alot by underwater fashion shoots when reasserting underwater cinematography i want to bring a little bit of glamour into the outfits.

Obviously the dresses will have to be very light weight with lost of layers  to give the floating weightlessness kind of feeling.  I have been looking at high street fashion and there section of smart casual dresses to find examples of what kind of dress i would like for the dancers.

I have chosen a selection of dresses in a block colours as i think this works best for the sytle we want to create, they are also the kind of dresses you would wear on a date or on a night out this way they are casual but also glamorous.

here are some of the dresses i have been looking at

I feel the dancers should have 2 different styles of dress so one long and one short as they are a couple so wouldnt be wearing matching clothes.

It is hard to pick dress at the moment  as i do not know the dancers size but this shows the style i am going for.

I also think the dresses should be in these colour range  as these will contrast and well against the blue or black  back ground

I am also thinking of teaming the dresses with a few bangles and bracelets and jackets to make it seem more like a casual outfit.  Once i have the actors sizes i am going to go round the charity shops in farnham and see if they have anything that will suit these needs .

As for hair and make up i want it pretty simple, just a plain face with a bit of mascara  to make the eyes and emotion pop. Depending on the dress we could maybe go for a brown smokey eye as this is both natural and glamorous.

Hair is going to be loose as it is going to be floating around  so maybe a loose wave or a braid just to make the outfits more complete.

i think pumps would work best for shoes but  i need to ask the dancer what the are most comfortable dancing in as i feel comfort for the dancer is more important than a shoe

I also think the dancer should wear a tan pair of shorts underneath incase the dresses float away to much and i will safter pin the bits around there neck to there bra as i dont want the dancer having to worry or have to stop dancing because dresses are sliding off or  the costume is uncomfortable
