So far kat has only had 3 replies, lauren 1 and me 1, How ever 2 of them have not been in contact since the first email we sent them despite several attempts to try and contact them. 1 of them dropped out due to not being able to make the filming dates and the other 2 couldnt make it to the audition dates .
Which leaves us with 0 dancers.
We have decided that we are going to contact the two girls who couldnt make it to auditions and offer them the role and work out new dates and schedules around them, as it is better to have 2 dancers and have to re work dates than no dancers and no film.
This is such a risky move as we dont know what they are like, if they are going to work well together, how well do they dance ETC but with the time we have left we would rather spend it rehearsing than still looking for people. To be on the save side we are going to leave the closing dates for applications open that way if one of the girls pulls out we might still have more applicants later on.
How ever as we had planned out our audition day any way i thought i would talk you through the process of how we were going to do things.
- introduce ourself and the other dancers to each other
- give the dancers key words for them to do a small improvisation on. This way we can pick out ideas for moves we like find dancers we like.
- pair the dancers up and get them to do smalls scenes together. Doing this not only allows us to see how they can work in teams but also who has the most chemistry together as we are using a lot emotions in our film we thought it was best that we find two good dancers who can enjoy working with each other and show that well on camera than 2 dancers who are amazing dancers but when put together just dont work.
- we would then tell the dancers how we see our story from start to finish and explain to them thats why they have been doing these exercises. We would then get the pairs to work out a short routine baised on our idea and the feedback we gave them to help us finalise our decision of who gets the role and structure a basic dance routine.
