Maps and journeys- Final idea development

The death experience (Working title) 

After talking to rosie we decided to simply our idea a little bit, we have removed the heavan and hell parts to focus more on the spirital feeling of a near death experience. 

Duration - The video its self will be around 2 1/2 minutes long,  it will be played on a loop ( if posible ) so if the viewer wants to they can watch it for longer. We chose to show it for a short amount of time as we thought having lights shown directly into your eyes and loud sounds in your ear for a longer period of time could become damaging to the viewer.

The visuals-  We will be creating our video in after effects. It will fade in and out for black to off beige ( we chose beige as bright white would be too harsh on their eyes and we want to create a calming experience not blind them) Whilst the video is bright, we will have very subtle images of faces and people around the screen.  These images will start off quite away from the viewer then slowly get closer towards them as if the viewer is walking down a long tunnel to them ( which some people said to experience in our research ) They will be undistigushable people , very out of focus and silhouetted like in these images. 

If we can work out how we want to instal lights inside the box so that they fade in and out with the images so that it is not like the viewer is just looking at the screen in a box but can see the lights and feel them all around them. If we can not do that we would have to use a project and work out how to position it so it covers all the walls giving the viewer an all round feeling. 

We want the visuals to be all around so that is all the viewer can see so it feels like they are actually experiencing as we think just looking at a screen wont give the same effect. 

The sound -  Using binaural sound we will make it so that sound moves in the same rhythms as the video ( getting louder and quitter as it fades in and out) we will also use this to make it feel like the sounds are slowly spinning around the persons head making them feel a little bit disorientated.
the sounds will mainly be humming and frequencies played in a rhythm to make the viewer feel at ease and related.

There will be a back ground sub bass hum as 30hz as this will frequency allows to to feel it inside your chest.  Using technique binoral beets we will create tones and and humming between 4hz and 8 hz this frequency has been proven to make feel clam and relaxed. Humans normally can hear bellow 20hz  how ever if you play a tone in one ear at 48 hz and the other at 40hz your brain will cancel them out and create a new 8 hz tone. we were thinking that we could have a vey deep mans voice come in from behind the viewer in the head phones telling them to wake up or get back into there body as some people said they experienced this, how ever it wont been the main part of the audio. 

the presentation - idealy we would want to build a box out of wood that we could but a round a computer screen so the screen illuminated the whole box inside, there will be a slot that the viewer can look through making it that its all the viewer sees, how ever we would need to test this as it might not be bright enough to give the desired effects.

We were thinking about putting lights into the box hoe ever we would need to find a way to make this fade in and out in time with the video

we could use a projector how ever its finding a way to install it so it fills the whole box with out blinding the veiwer or being bulky and in the way

we could make it so it takes up a whole room if we needed to how ever this wouldnt give the desired effect we would like it would also have issues with projecting it on to all the walls with out the person creating a shoddow on it.
