maps and journeys - Mood board / styles

In our initial ideas we were thinking of creating a sense of fear  by making a person feel like they were trapped in a video game, this was loosely biased of the tv show darren brown made called trick or treat. Where darren hypnotised a person who was playing an arcaded game and put them inside a real life game scaring the person. see links below for more info

As it will be hard for us to create a space like a room to immerse the viewer in we were thinking of using technology to cover the viewers eyes to make it so the video is all they see.
one of the things we were thinking of using is an oculus rift.

however we wouldn't be able to get an one of these as there too expensive so we were looking at other ways to create a similar kind of effect

this was posted by someone on tumblr and we thought we could build a similar kind of contraption , or maybe build a smart phone into a pair of goggles. This would allow the viewer to feel immersed how ever having the screen so close to the viewers eyes could be a health and safety problems so we would have  the video very short as not to blind the viewer for too long.
