they would then work out the formats the film needs to be screens in to tell that to the post team.
they would then leave the team to it whilst the producer sorts out marketing and distribution.
they would keep checking in giving the editor notes and maybe orginise a m rough edit screening so all heads of department can see how the film is shaping out.
how a producer deals with marketing and distribution
when marketing the film they would come up with a press kit, this would contain
- loglines
- synopsis
- directors bio
- cast bios
- key personnel bios
- press clippings
- full credit lists
- photos that can be used in press articles
they would then set up things like websites, social networks blogs etc, there more media you film is on the more it will be publisised ( things like social networking are good as they are free to use )
they would then hire a publisits who has better connections at promoting the film
there are several ways a film can then be distributed for example
- through film festivals
- cinema
- tv
- dvds
it is important you have to correct legal work for which ever way you chose to distribute your film
