Maps and journeys - Other ways to display it

A few weeks ago the man who runs the gallery where our projects will be shown came into our class and spoke to us about our pieces. He suggest we think about using the space of the gallery more maybe projecting things high up  onto the roof rather than build a box, this lead me to start thinking about other way we could possible display it. The two favourite ways i liked were :

  • Have some bean bags or beds on the floor to create something comfortable  for the viewer to lie on. we would then project the video up on to the ceiling  and have the sound coming for under the bean bags. This all though it would not give the same experience  we wanted to create , it would still be something relaxing which evolved the person into the piece and was fun for the viewer to enjoy.
  • the second way was biased off of an installation i saw at a festival in Budapest called the luminarium. This was an inflated series of chambers with bright lights and  relaxing sounds that you could walk round in or sit down and loose all sense of time in. See video for more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FrthXvg1W4  I was thinking it would be interesting if we could build a little pod like this and project the video/sound around the viewer to create an relaxing environment.
