Dance - Test day

So we deceided to do some test to see what we need to do and how we need to film it.

the first thing we needed to work out was if fans would be enough to make it weightless.  As all the studios are booked out we had to go to g28 instead which is a photography room so we didnt have much room but we made the most with what we had.  One of the things we found out straight away was a regular house hold fan was useless, all though it did give the hair a floaty weightless feeling we had to be as close to the hair as possible, meaning we would need a stronger fan like a leaf blower.

we also tested it on both a black and a green.  When i did a test edit the colour correction was really hard on the black as the hair blended into the background so it would be best to use a green screen. The green screen we had to use was mine from home that we taped to a reflector board to make it smooth out  how ever it was too small for what we need aslo with the small amount we had it was really hard to light and fit the dancer on.  So we went to chris pinock to ask for advice and he sugest we use green screen photography paper like the black one  on a 12 foot roll wide.

The next thing we went about doing is testing how to make the bubbles, we saw a tutorial online that showed someone blowing into a tank on a black screen so we decided to try the same, we used a verity of objects like rocks and staws to make bubbles.  We leant from this that a we need a really clear and deep box to film against and that dropping rocks into the water gave the best bubble trail as the staws were hard to hide or mask out in the edit.

we then did the same thing using dry shampoo and throwing talc powder in front of the screen and we plan on over laying this to create some kind of back scatter.

As well as techniques of how we can film this testing day also gave us a good insite to what equipment and props we will need to film.
