In pre production
- The script writer goes to a producer with an idea
- the producer then goes to executives to work out bugeting, legal information and what dates things need to be done by
- the producer hires a director and other crew members
- the directors works with the producer to break down the script and create a shot list
- the director works with the DOP to discuss set design, lighting, camera movements etc
- The DOP then works with the camera , lighting and art department to develop the idea
- whilst that is happening the producers works with location scouts, accountants, builders etc to get together the basic paper work
- The director then works with a casting agent to hire an actor
- all heads of departments then meet up to show the planning they have done so far any make sure everything is going on track
- The producer then hires out technical resorces, sound and gripping teams
- the director and a small crew will then go on a pre vis to the loaction to see if the plans are feesable or if anything needs changing
- The producer then works with the dop to get props cosutme ETC
- final meeting are had to make sure everthing is how it should be
- final scripts and shooting sceduals are sent out
On set
- the First AD will be the first to arive on set to let the gaffers, construction and electrical department in to set up
- the art department will then arive and start dressing the set
- whilst things are being set up ready for filming the First AD will call all departments together for a small meeting to make sure everyone is aware of the days plans
- the actors will then arrive and go into costume and make up
- the DOP and Director will then go through and disscus the shots
- The DOP goes to the camera and lighting etc department and gose through it with them
- the director then gose through basic blocking with the actor
- whilst all this is going on the main point of contact between the crew and the director will be through the first ad
- when all departments are ready the AD will shout quiet on set and prepare for a take
- once cut it shouted the director will then tell the first ad directions to tell the DOP who will then tell the respected departments whilst the director organises the actor
- at the end of the shoot day all departments pack up there own equipment ready to move on
in the edit
- the director will go through the rushes with the lead editor to pick the best shots
- the lead editor will then create a rough cut
- this will then go to the sound department to create a radio edit and for them to make foley and music plans
- the lead editor then cleans up the final cut with help from the producer before giving it to a colour corretor to sort out the colour.
- The sound department will then sort out the audio to make it perfect and clean
- a visual effectors editor will come in if needed to add visual effects
- all elements are then put together to create a final mixdow
- this will then go to a distributor and marketing team for the final video to be shown
